The Wolf Whisperer Chapter 5: The Name

As the wolf awoke, Scarlet ran over to the river and scooped the cold water with her hands and drank it. The wolf slowly approached from behind and pushed her into the water with his nose. Scarlet hit the surface of the water making water fly up in the air like shards of glass being thrown up into the sky. The water sprayed the wolfs fur coat, the cold water felt like icy daggers stabbing into him. Scarlet swam to the river bank cold and wet but humoured by the wolf's cheekiness. She dashed to the warm grass, tripping on a stone and falling to the ground laughing. The wolf made a running leap onto her, throwing his head back with joy. Patting his shaggy fur Scarlet said suddenly, "Wolf, I think it's time that I give you a name". The wolf bowed his head in agreement. Scarlet sat there for a while, staring into the wolf's eyes, thinking of a name to call him. "What about Charlie?, the wolf crinkled it's nose in disgust, "I was just being silly" laughed Scarlet, "I have the perfect name for you". The wolf pricked it's ears up expectantly. "Z'ev", Scarlet said triumphantly, "It means wolf". The wolf liked the sound of Z'ev so he rolled over and licked the girl's face. "Ew, or maybe I should call you Dog's Breath?". The wolf made a small rumbling sound which Scarlet knew was laughter. "Come on Z'ev lets go find the pack".

Brother's Birthday

Today it is my brother's Birthday,
so we went to a cafe.
I gave him some clay and Mummy gave him something from eBay
and he said it was okay.
We went shopping on Monday,
he got pj's at Safeway.
He walked a dog on the pathway
and then the dog ran away,
So he jumped in Santa's sleigh and then the sleigh sped away
They caught the doggy at Norway.
Then the went for lunch at Subway straightaway,
After that he had to get an x-ray.
Hooray hooray hooray what a splendid Birthday!

What rhymes with blog?

This is my blog,
that's covered in fog.
In that fog,
there is a log.
In that log,
there is a frog.
That frog owns a dog,
called Mog.
That is all I know that rhymes with Blog.

My mum

I have a Mum and she is fun.
She gave me a teddy that sucks its thumb.
I have a wheat bag I called Bacon Bum.
I love my Mum that gave me a kiss, it was such bliss.
She dresses up like a fish, or a fairy with a wish.
Oh I love my Mummy, 'cause shes so funny.

The Wolf Whisperer Chapter 4: The Hunt

After following the wolf deeper into the forest, Scarlet grows tired and gestures to the wolf that she needs to rest. She lays out her bedroll, stretches out and falls into an exhausted sleep. The wolf, still saddened by the loss of his son, lay down next to Scarlet. Slowly settling in beside her and finally resting his head on her arm protectively. He too then falls asleep, comforted by the girl's closeness.

In the early morning the wolf wakes, feeling thirsty and stiff. He sniffs the air, sensing food close by. He gently rouses the still sleeping girl by licking her face. Scarlet opens her eyes to see the wolf nosing her bow as if to say “We need to go and hunt”. Without stopping to question, Scarlet grabs up her knife and bow and follows the wolf further into the forest.
After what seemed like hours of stomping around and looking for the animal that the wolf had caught scent of earlier, they come across a stream and drink. Clumsily Scarlet reaches with her hand again and again slurping at the water. She catches sight of the wolf in the corner of her eye. Was he raising his eyebrow at her?
A rustling noise comes from behind a nearby bush. Determined to catch something for their breakfast and show her worth to the leader of the pack, Scarlet creeps quietly up to the bush. Slowly she circles around to surprise her prey. She draws her bow and jumps out only to find to a cloud of grasshoppers, just becoming active in the morning sunshine. The wolf jumps up to catch the grasshoppers. As they whiz past his face he snaps at them and chews them up. Scarlet tries to imitate his actions without success, so she scoops them off the ground and gobbles the crunchy insects hungrily. When all the grasshoppers are gone the wolf walks over to a blackberry bush and starts eating. The juice running down his chin makes Scarlet wrinkle her nose. But the berries, plump and ripe, look so delicious, Scarlet starts eating them by the handful. When they are both quite full of blackberries, Scarlet packs some extra into her satchel. Thirst satisfied, belly full and exhausted from all the grasshopper catching, they stretch out in the mid-morning sun for a much needed nap.

The Wolf Whisperer: Chapter 3: The Girl

As the sun rises, the young girl is woken by an older woman shaking her saying, “Wake up Scarlet, wake up”.
“I'm awake, I'm awake. What is it?” she asks, pulling the sheet up to her chin.
“There where wolves here last night", the woman replies, "They were looking for food".
Oh, does that mean I can't go collecting in the forest tonight?", panic was setting in.
“You still must go Scarlet, but you will need to work quickly and take a bow with you so you can defend yourself ” Nodding, the girl slips from the bed. When the woman leaves, she quickly runs to get everything ready so she can see the wolves. Scarlet packs her only spare set of clothes, her water bladder, and what food she has concealed over the past few days. Pangs of hunger set in "You must wait", she reminds herself silently. Her worldly possessions she pushes into her day pack; two luck stones, five magic oak twigs, a book about herbs, things to eat and avoid and a map.
She slips outside, to see the stable hand. At the stables, she gathers up a bow and twenty arrows, a hunting knife and flint. The stable hand approaches with a bundle of bedding for her. "Mind yer don't get your bedroll wet Miss, or it will be a soggy night's sleep for yer" She thanks the old man with a nod and hurries out of the stable, before she is spotted by anybody else.
By mid afternoon, with a solid days walking behind her, she sees Moon Rock, a giant quartz cut into a small rise of earth. There is trampled earth beneath and she just knows that this is the place where the wolves have their meetings. She decides to stop there and set up camp, as risky as that may be.
As night approaches and the moon starts it's journey across the sky, she starts to grow impatient.
"Where are you?" she whispers to the night. She hears the hoot of an owl in the distance, then nothing but her own heart beating. Scarlet takes a deep breath, looks at the moon, which is full and beautiful and howls to him.  "Please come," she pleads to the leader inside her mind.
She waits and has almost given in when then there is howling from all around her. Eerie silence follows and then, He is in front of her staring her into her eyes.
He gestures to her questioningly “Have you brought meat?”
Scarlet rummages through her bag and finds the leg of mutton she had stolen from the kitchen the night before. The wolf drags it away and quickly devours it.  Licking his muzzle and his paws he approaches the girl. She holds her hand out to him, unsure of what he wants. The wolf rubs his nose against her open palm.
“Your welcome” she says. "I am Scarlet, what am I to call you?"

The Wolf Whisperer : Chapter 2 : The Man

When the leader of the pack returns to the middle of the forest, he decides to call a meeting.  He howls the summons near Moon rock. Soon the forest is a chorus of howling. Suddenly, the howling stops and only the sounds of twigs snapping and the crunching of the leaves can be heard as the pack approaches.
Close to where the pack has gathered, a branch falls and there is a howl of pain.
The wolves run to the sound and the leader is shocked by what they have found.
Under the branch is the leader's son; still, silent and as pale as a ghost.
The leader can smell man. He cautiously noses the air and catches a glimpse of someone's eyes. There is a rustle of  leaves and then silence for a  few seconds. A dark figure jumps from the trees, moving away from the pack in a spray of earth and leaves. None of the wolves go to chase the man, frozen by grief. The leader sheds tears of loss for his only son, his heir, the last member of his family .
He howls a curse to the man, ripping the silence of the night apart with his raw fury .
The leader muzzles his lifeless son and swears a silent oath that when he finds this man, he will tear him limb from limb.

The Wolf Whisperer: Chapter 1 : The Wolf

As darkness starts to fall on the village, the full moon sets high in the sky. The crickets begin to sing, a grasshopper plays the violin and a owl hoots in tune. A pack of wolves surround the village waiting, staring and mouth watering for food. A wolf howls as a door slowly opens, the light hitting the ground. A young girl slowly walks out, a bag around her shoulder. She walks up to the leader of the pack and whispers something in his ear. The leader growls at his son who is laying down pretending to sleep. The son walks up to the girl and together they head behind the town hall. For a few moments nothing is heard, then the girl and wolf return dragging a deer carcass behind them. The pack quickly run into a circle and the deer carcass is thrown amongst them. The leader of the pack walks up to the carcass; no one dares to move. The leader rips meat from the deer, then howls. The other wolves howl with their leader and run to get the meat. The pack leader pushes an apple towards the girl. The girl grabs the apple and she murmurs a quiet “thank you”, before running back inside her family’s house.
When the wolves are done she walks back outside, the leader of the pack still there watching her. The girl slowly walks up to the wolf, step by step counting each footfall, until she feels the wolf's hot breath. Then it feels like everything has stopped. The wolf gestures with it's head as if to say “Come or go”. The girl says back in a hurried whisper, “Come tomorrow and you’ll get more food and I'll be ready to go”. The wolf nods his head, as if in agreement. The wolf runs off after the pack. When he is out of sight the girl picks up the remains of the deer and forms a hole behind a tree. She hides the bones inside and covers them with the cold dirt. She stamps down the dirt to conceal the bones and when she is done she rushes inside to sleep.

The mind garden

As fury passes through the heart, all your love will shatter. Death will draw near as dawn appears riding on her horses. The wind kisses you on the cheek, as you are gripped by fear. As you see the last glimpse of your love, you get tossed across the river of souls. The cold bony hands of death grab you. You hold your breath and get pulled under. You believe you can escape, then everything fades and you fall into your garden and see life again. Your hope and love form again. You're safe from fury and anger, within reach of your home. You run to your house tripping on stones until you're safe inside.
